  • Salary: From £37,091 depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing

  • Independently undertaking transactional procurement activity including raising Request for Quotations, negotiating price and lead times, creating and managing purchase orders, expediting delivery and managing payments
  • Undertaking supplier assessment and due diligence activity to ensure the effective selection of suppliers to meet business needs
  • Communicating with suppliers and internal / external stakeholders – resolving a wide variety of routine problems and quality issues, escalating complex / high impact issues when necessary
  • Applying awareness of risk and opportunity management to address low impact risks within contract management activity
  • Updating systems such as SAP, eDMS, Teamcenter with quality, accurate information relating to the procurement activity, in accordance with document management policy and process
  • Continually reviewing the performance of suppliers against quality, cost and delivery metrics to ensure Submarines' requirements are met and to secure improvements
  • Supporting the team, with minimal supervision, in the preparation of material in support of major subcontract / transactional process activity, including (but not limited to): raising requests for information, issuing invitation to tenders and contract packs, stage gate presentations, supplier down-selection, managing data deliverables, supplier visits (onsite and at supplier sites), supplier relationship management

Your skills and experiences

Essential

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Procurement principles and practices
  • Understanding of negotiation and supplier management techniques
  • Understanding of commercial aspects of contracts (with support)
  • Ability to apply understanding of Terms & Conditions and commercial aspects of the contract to procurement and contract management activities
  • Strong Relationship building skills

Desirable

  • Knowledge of SAP and Teamcenter
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Chain (CIPS) qualification or working towards

  • This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Combat Systems Dreadnought Programme Office Team where you will support the planning, monitoring and delivery of procurement activity including information, products and services to quality, cost and schedule requirements. You will support in assessing the blockers and identifying the enablers which help to make a successful contract. You will also support the review of contracts and highlight any discrepancies and support in the resolution. This opportunity will provide you with the ability to engage with various stakeholders as you compile data and present to senior stakeholders across the business.
