- As Principal Product Manager, you will lead the strategy, development, and delivery of a cloud-native database platform used globally by enterprise customers. You will work closely with engineering, design, and customer teams to define and prioritize product roadmaps, delivering features that enhance performance, scalability, and reliability. This role offers the opportunity to shape a product that supports distributed, high-performance analytics and empowers users to gain actionable insights from large datasets. You will engage directly with customers, translate technical concepts into actionable product plans, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Your work will influence the evolution of the platform and play a critical role in driving adoption, satisfaction, and innovation in a fast-growing, technically complex environment.
Accountabilities
- Define and drive the product roadmap for cloud-native database capabilities, including replication, distributed query execution, fault tolerance, storage tiering, and schema evolution.
- Collaborate with engineering to prioritize improvements to the core database engine, storage layer, and query optimizer.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback that guide product decisions.
- Partner with design, marketing, operations, and sales teams to support feature launches and contribute to positioning and messaging.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.
- Act as the primary point of contact for product-related communications, managing expectations and providing updates to stakeholders.
- 8+ years of product management experience, with a strong background in cloud-based SaaS products.
- Deep understanding of database systems, distributed systems, or real-time analytics platforms.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and familiarity with query execution, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
- Experience with databases such as ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Knowledge of modern data infrastructure, including data lakes, ETL pipelines, CDC, and data orchestration frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to work on low-level technical topics, including schema management, query planning, and storage engines.
- Proven track record in delivering features like database replication, consistency models, and backup/restore workflows.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional influence skills in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
