Do you have experience adapting materials and implementing strategies for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?
Are you looking for flexible, rewarding work in primary schools across Leeds, supported by the UK's leading recruitment agency?
Randstad Education is actively recruiting dedicated and experienced Primary Teaching Assistants with a proven track record in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support for roles across primary schools in Leeds and surrounding areas.
These crucial roles involve providing targeted 1:1 and small group intervention, ensuring pupils with additional needs have equal access to the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
1:1 Support: Providing specific, dedicated support to individual pupils with identified SEN (including but not limited to Autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties) to facilitate their engagement in class activities.
Intervention Delivery: Delivering pre-planned literacy (e.g., phonics) and numeracy intervention programs to small groups of pupils, tracking progress and reporting back to the class teacher/SENCO.
Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour reinforcement techniques and helping to manage social or emotional challenges in line with the pupil's support plan.
Resource Adaptation: Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning materials and resources to make them accessible and meaningful for pupils with varying needs.
Pastoral Care: Offering emotional and social support, fostering independence, and building a nurturing relationship with the pupils you support.
General Classroom Support: Assisting the teacher with classroom organisation, display setup, and general supervision across the primary age range (EYFS, KS1, or KS2).
What We Are Looking For
Essential Experience: Direct experience supporting pupils with complex or moderate SEN in a classroom environment.
Qualifications (Desirable): Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, specific CPD in Autism, Behaviour Management, or Phonics/Literacy interventions).
Safeguarding: A deep commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Professionalism: Reliability, adaptability, and strong communication skills to liaise effectively with teachers, parents, and SENCOs.
DBS: A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
