  • EAP Pre-Sessional Teacher
  • Job Description
  • We are seeking well-qualified, experienced EAP teachers to deliver our intensive Pre-sessional UG, PGT, and PGR entry-route programmes on campus. We welcome a diverse, international staff base.

2026 teaching contract dates (incl. induction week)

  • On-Campus 20 Week programme
  • 20-week Programme (after the first 10 weeks students are streamed into one of the programmes below)
  • 13 April 2026 – 11 September 2026
  • On-Campus 10 Week programme
  • 29 June – 11 September 2026
  • On-line 6 Week programme
  • 8 June 2026 – 24 July 2026
  • On-Campus 6 Week programme
  • 27 July – 11 September 2026

Support

  • All curricula and assessments are designed in-house. Teaching material is provided in full. Staff are supported in effective delivery of the programmes via a week-long induction followed by weekly meetings and ongoing co-ordinator support.

Workload

  • You will be expected to deliver ~15 contact teaching hours a week, spend ~16-18 hours a week planning and marking, and ~2-4 hours a week in meetings.

Salary & Accommodation

  • Pay is Grade 7 Spine Point 33 - £23.22 per hour plus 12.07%25 holiday pay.
  • Campus accommodation is provided for on-campus teachers.

Key Responsibilities

  • · Prepare and deliver EAP classes using the materials and guidance provided
  • · Become familiar with course content, including all reading texts
  • · Give timely, effective written and verbal feedback on student work
  • · Work closely with colleagues to assess student work
  • · Complete online registers daily
  • · Attend weekly teachers’ meetings
  • · Meet deadlines for marking and entering student grades and feedback

Essential

  • · RSA CELTA (or equivalent)
  • · Good undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • · At least 2 years relevant teaching experience
  • · MA in Applied Linguistics (or equivalent) and/or RSA DELTA (or equivalent) and/or significant, relevant EAP teaching experience with MA/DELTA in progress
  • · Understanding of the demands and conventions of HE study and how these differ across academic levels and disciplines
  • · Knowledge of a range of EAP teaching methodologies and ability to exploit these appropriately
  • · Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Email and Teams), the Blackboard VLE, as well as awareness of relevant AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT)
  • · Willingness to engage in both peer and evaluative observations
  • · Willingness to participate in and contribute to professional CPD sessions
  • · Willingness to work as part of an international team
  • · Willingness to supporting colleagues

Desirable

  • · Experience of teaching EAP in the UK HE context
  • · Experience of integrating digital technologies into teaching practice
  • · Awareness of the BALEAP Competency Framework for Teachers of EAP (CFTEAP) and its relevance to professional practice.
