Full time fixed term position until July 2026, located on the Darlington Campus at the Faculty of Engineering Opportunity to contribute to an industrial project on PFAS-free low-adhesion coatings Base salary, Level A, $113,400 p.a - $121,054 p.a. + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Faculty of Engineering are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in surface engineering and materials science to work within a research group led by Prof. Antonio Tricoli at the University of Sydney. The team has advanced research on materials science, nanotechnology, functional materials and coatings. You will be given the opportunity to work collaboratively with a motivated team of early career researchers and PhDs on optical low-adhesion coatings. Within the team, you will be given the opportunity to expand your research skills and experience and to grow in your career as a mentee and a mentor, and to expand your research network when liaising with collaborative research partners. Your key responsibilities will be to: contribute and co-lead the research program and milestones of the AEA Project explore new research for furthering scientific understandings, breakthroughs and impact, assist in developing new research proposals and build and expand new research collaboration opportunities assist in intellectual property protection and in liaising with industry partners for technology transfer prepare presentations for disseminating research and manuscripts for publication in high impact scientific journals assist in the supervision of undergraduate, master’s and PhD students within Professor Tricoli’s groups work with other team members on establishing and maintaining best practice protocols for safe and efficient operation of the groups’ laboratories. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in surface engineering and materials science who has: a PhD in physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science or related science or engineering subjects experience with electrochemistry and chemical engineering a strong track record of publications, research translation and other impact metrics excellent communication skills with the ability to work dynamically and collaboratively with research group members, research partners, industry partners, suppliers and manufacturers and the ability to meet milestones and deadlines good analytical skills and attention to detail and ability to utilise data analytics and modelling software accordingly.
