Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is seeking a PIP2-accredited Police Staff Investigator or Detective Constable to join our Serious & Organised Crime Unit (SOCU). This is a dynamic and challenging role where you’ll be at the forefront of investigations that protect the most vulnerable and disrupt organised criminal networks. This is a contract role initially for 6-months with an hourly rate of £18.41 per hour + holiday and benefits. The role is based in Southampton and we are ideally looking for someone with excellent statement taking and case file building experience. Key Responsibilities Work collaboratively with investigators, specialists, and managers to gather and assess material, turning it into actionable intelligence or evidence.Plan and execute investigative actions, considering available resources and proportionality.Interview witnesses and suspects in line with PIP2 standards, generating further lines of enquiry.Arrest and apprehend suspects, conduct searches, and manage custody procedures.Support victims throughout the investigative process, including risk assessments and victim strategies.Analyse evidence and material to identify offenders and build robust case files.Respond to safeguarding concerns involving vulnerable adults, children, and victims of domestic or sexual abuse.Ensure all evidence and exhibits are handled in accordance with legislation and policy.Prepare reports and manage disclosure processes to maintain a clear audit trail.Participate in call-outs and work flexibly to meet operational demands, including weekends and out-of-hours.
