- As part of our team, you’ll gain hands-on experience developing system software for high-performance CPUs and contributing to open-source RISC-V projects. The Internship length is flexible (typically 12–16 months). Start Date: May 2026.
- This role is on-site, based out of Santa Clara, CA or Austin, TX.
- Who You Are
- A motivated and curious student passionate about low-level programming, firmware, and operating systems.
- Excited to learn about high-performance CPU system software and AI/ML hardware platforms.
- A clear communicator who can explain technical issues effectively.
- Collaborative, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to challenging projects.
- Detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple technical priorities.
- What We Need
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills (Assembly, C, Python preferred).
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with version control (Git preferred).
- Interest in CPUs, operating systems, firmware, and low-level software.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- What You Will Learn
- Build software and scripts to run on high-performance CPUs.
- Enhance system software testing and optimization for pre-silicon environments.
- Maintain Git infrastructure supporting CI/CD and nightly regressions.
- Develop tools and scripts for design flow automation.
- Contribute to open-source RISC-V projects and collaborate with engineers on software performance improvements.
- Compensation for all interns at Tenstorrent ranges from $50/hr - $70/hr including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
