Job Title: Planning Lawyer

Pay rate: £43.12 per hour PAYE
Role length: Anticipated 6 months
Additional requirements: Driving Licence and ability to travel outside the office as required
The role:
We are looking for an experienced planning lawyer to join the infrastructure team to assist with planning related matters including s106 obligations, general planning advice, enforcement and appeal.
You will need to be a qualified planning lawyer who is well versed in primarily drafting and dealing with complex s106 planning obligations.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with planning related matters including s106 obligations
Deal with enforcement and appeals
Provide high quality legal services and general advice in the areas of planning
Undertake advocacy and represent the Council in the Court arena.
Represent Legal Services, the Council and external clients in meetings, including committee and member meetings, inquiries and working groups and in discussions with other legal practitioners at an appropriate level as and when required
Contribute to the development and delivery of legal services
What the client is looking for:
Qualified barrister, Solicitor or a Chartered Legal Executive
Membership of the relevant professional body
Experience of drafting and dealing with complex s106 planning obligations
Experience of undertaking advocacy in court together with contested hearings requiring the cross examination of witnesses in court
Experience of working in local government
Reasonable knowledge of English law and practice in relation to planning law
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Good research and problem-solving skills with ability to convey complex legal and factual issues to various audiences
Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and client departments to build excellent working relationships
Proficient IT skills including the ability to use a case management system
