About

  • Must be courteous to patients, visitors and employees.
  • Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement. Identifies pertinent patient problems.
  • Sets objective, measurable treatment goals incorporating patient's goal for functional outcome. Establishes a treatment plan based on patient needs and patient family input.
  • Performs treatment procedures and adapts therapy techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal commands or voluntarily carry out a regime of therapeutic exercises. Re-evaluates patients, modifies treatment plan and procedures based on patient progress.
  • Provides objective, analytic documentation of patient care, patient/family education and information regarding units of service. Communicates effectively with medical/allied health personnel regarding patient progress, needs, and discharge planning.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment program, quality improvement initiatives, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Trains new personnel as required, assists the Manager with on the job training.
  • Provides guidance and direction to PTAs, aides, and affiliated students.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through approved participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Participates in appropriate inservice educational programs.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

  • Generally establishes own work plan and priorities, using and/or modifying standard procedures, to assure timely completion of assigned work in conformance with department policies and practices; problems lacking clear precedent are usually reviewed with the Manager.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Graduate of an APTA accredited Physical Therapy program with a degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • One to two years experience preferred.
  • Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics of the APTA.
  • Demonstrates current clinical competency.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
