ABOUT THIS JOB Position Specific Summary The Pension Manager position at the City of Tucson’s Business Services Department is responsible for managing the daily pension operations, long-term planning, as well as collaboration across departments. This position also performs investment management activities in accordance with the Tucson Supplemental Retirement System (TSRS) Board strategy. Work is performed under the supervision of the Pension Administrator. This position exercises supervision over pension personnel. Duties and Responsibilities Manages operations within the pension area to develop, enhance, or sustain quality of service by providing process and program development and oversight, resolving complex issues, developing and communicating division and individual expectations, policies, procedures, and strategic direction, and assigns work and reviews performance of assigned employees. Supervises and oversees the daily operations of the assigned area by setting goals and objectives, managing schedules and work priorities, monitoring and evaluating performance, facilitating access to resources and training, providing guidance and addressing issues, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions. Ensures the implementation of cash management strategies for pension payment in keeping with the TSRS investment policy. Oversees the day-to-day operations of pension plans. Oversees the day-to-day operations of deferred compensation plans. Contributes to long-term planning by developing strategies. Collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth pension plan integration. Prepares data and schedules for the annual financial report. Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Working Conditions Mostly office environment. Position requires desk work, filing, reading, writing, lifting light weight. Work in excess of 40 hours per week to meet specific deadlines may be required. All duties and responsibilities listed are subject to change. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree Work Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience. License/Certifications: A valid and unrestricted driver’s license with two (2) years of licensed driving is required. Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in human resources, finance or accounting.
