  • Job Description Purpose of the role To take responsibility for end-to-end local Platform management including – strategy design & execution, scalable and stable platform for client & colleagues, regulatory risk mitigation & management, platform development. Accountabilities Business ownership of system, processes & procedures on the platform and end to end client journey management, oversight, business continuity & service recovery. Management, understanding and interpretation of local & group regulatory requirements & standards. Driving Platform strategy and change agenda, seeking innovative solutions to differentiate, streamline and de-risk the platform to directly contribute to client experience, Banker efficiency and managing / reducing regulatory risk. Using KPIs and data to monitor and measure of the platform effectiveness and change improvements. Managing, reporting and representing the platform performance at relevant governance fora. External (where required) and internal stakeholder management including regulators, senior leaders, client facing colleagues and infrastructure partners. Provision of guidance, coaching and support to improve colleagues' delivery quality. Director Expectations To manage a business function, providing significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Contribute to and influence policy and procedures for the function and plan, manage and consult on multiple complex and critical strategic projects, which may be business wide.. They manage the direction of a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the values of the business. Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.. Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives. Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function. Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately. Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence. Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives. Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives. Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations. Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area. Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally. Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions. The Chief Operating Officer for Investments is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational functions of the Investments platform within Private Bank and Wealth Management. This role emphasizes collaboration with senior stakeholders, risk management, and driving transformation to ensure a resilient and client-focused business. Strategic leadership and partnership: The COO acts as the main interface between the Investments business and the broader COO organization, aligning priorities and working with teams across Risk, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Change to deliver integrated solutions and foster a culture of accountability. Middle Office and risk oversight: The role provides oversight of Middle Office activities, focusing on trade support, lifecycle management, operational risk mitigation, and continuous process improvement to support growth and regulatory compliance. It also leads governance of operational and conduct risks within the firm’s risk appetite. Service excellence and transformation: The COO ensures high-quality, scalable investment process delivery, chairs the Investments Operating Forum to drive performance, supports operational resilience planning, and leads change initiatives to optimize client and colleague experiences globally. Extensive experience in a senior COO, Operations, or Transformation leadership role within Financial Services, ideally with exposure to Private Banking or Wealth Management. Deep understanding of investment products, Middle Office functions, operational processes, and the regulatory landscape. Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex change at scale. Strong expertise in risk management, service delivery, and operational transformation. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience managing change portfolios in dynamic environments.
