Passenger Assistant Hourly Rate: £12.85Location: HD1, Kirklees areaJob Type: Part-time hours across 5 days a week We are seeking a dedicated Passenger Assistant to join our team, providing essential support to children with special educational needs and day care clients. This role is crucial in ensuring a high-quality Passenger Transport Service by attending to the personal, physical, and medical needs of passengers, assisting drivers, and contributing to a safe and efficient transport service. Day-to-day of the role: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of passengers during transport between home and school/day centres.Monitor and report on the transport contract, including timetable adherence, licensing, and general performance.Safely handle pupils' dinner money, medicines, and written messages between parents and schools.Assist in securing clients' homes and help them board the vehicle safely.Support the driver in operating vehicle access features like doors, ramps, and lifts, and ensure the correct use of seatbelts and safety equipment.Administer emergency medication and provide first aid as needed.Respond to medical emergencies by ensuring passenger safety and communicating effectively with emergency services.Employ movement techniques to manage and mitigate challenging behaviours in children.Maintain hygiene by managing and disposing of bodily fluids safely.Ensure sensitive personal medical information is kept confidential in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience as a carer for children or adults, particularly those with disabilities.Proven ability to provide assistance and support to individuals with restricted mobility and/or challenging behaviour.Must hold or be willing to undergo training for a First Aid certificate.</
