The Opportunity: Tailored Maths Instruction in Girton
We are delighted to be partnering with a highly dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Girton to recruit a Part-Time SEN Maths Teacher. This vital role focuses on providing expert, differentiated instruction to pupils who require bespoke approaches to access and engage with mathematical concepts. You will be instrumental in fostering confidence, improving numeracy skills, and making the subject practical and relevant for every student.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, highly adapted Maths lessons to small groups or individual students with varied SEN profiles (including moderate to severe learning difficulties, ASD, and SEMH).
- Utilise a range of multi-sensory and therapeutic teaching techniques to simplify abstract concepts and build foundational understanding.
- Accurately assess student progress against their individual learning targets and contribute detailed reports for EHCP reviews.
- Work collaboratively with a dedicated team of teaching assistants and therapists to ensure comprehensive support inside and outside the classroom.
- Create a calm, safe, and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and expressing their mathematical ideas.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, preferably with a specialism in Mathematics.
- Significant and proven experience teaching Maths to students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs.
- Comprehensive understanding of differentiation strategies and the ability to adapt the curriculum to meet highly individualised goals.
- Exceptional compassion, flexibility, and a deep commitment to the welfare and educational outcomes of SEN pupils.
- A commitment to working a pre-agreed part-time timetable.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
