We are seeking compassionate, person-centred individuals with advocacy experience to join our Paid Person’s Representative (PPR) team. In this role, you will support individuals living in hospital or care home settings, ensuring their rights, wishes, and best interests are respected.

Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide a Paid Person’s Representative (PPR) service to vulnerable individuals in hospital or care home settings, as outlined in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and its related regulations and code of practice.
You will support individuals under a DoLS, ensuring they receive the appropriate care, support, and fair treatment. A DoLS is put in place to safeguard individuals who cannot leave a hospital or care setting of their own free will, protecting them from potential harm or abuse.

Key Responsibilities
• Represent and support individuals under DoLS, ensuring they understand the authorisation process.
• Advocate for the best interests of the person in line with MCA principles.
• Maintain regular contact with the individual, building trust and rapport.
• Collaborate with families, carers, and professionals to protect the person’s rights.
• Challenge authorisations or request reviews when necessary, including supporting clients to present their case to the Court of Protection.
• Stay up to date with relevant case law and legal changes.
• Keep accurate records and report concerns as required.
• Due to the nature of the role, a full driver’s license and access to transport is required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed for reasonable distances.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, compassionate, and enjoys driving. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary, just a commitment to supporting others and a willingness to learn.
As a Paid Person’s Representative (PPR), you will advocate for individuals under a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DoLS), ensuring their rights are upheld throughout the process. You will work closely with the person, regularly communicating with them to explain their situation, and ensuring they are treated fairly. When necessary, you will speak up on their behalf, ensuring decisions align with their best interests and comply with the law.

Ideal Candidate
• Experience in advocacy, social work, or a related field is desirable.
• A strong understanding of mental capacity and human rights laws.
• Ability to speak South Asian languages is an advantage.
