- At Serco, we’re offering a meaningful opportunity for a Pagan Chaplain at HMP Dovegate, a Category B men’s prison in Staffordshire. This isn’t just a job – it’s a calling. It’s about being a presence of care, integrity, and hope for those navigating one of the most challenging chapters of their lives.

- Believe that supporting someone at their lowest can help them rise to something greater.
- You’ll be part of a friendly, diverse and inclusive multi-faith team, supporting individuals in prison to reconnect with purpose and rebuild their lives through reflection, community, and ethical engagement. You’ll also build bridges with your wider Pagan community to support the resettlement journey of individuals as they prepare for life beyond custody.
What you’ll be doing
- Offering pastoral care, emotional support, and spiritual guidance to prisoners, colleagues, and their families when requested.
- Leading rituals, seasonal observances, reflective gatherings, and one-to-one support rooted in Pagan belief systems.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure chaplaincy is inclusive, accessible, and available to all.
- Supporting those in crisis, helping individuals navigate grief, guilt, and major life transitions.
- Promoting awareness of Pagan practices and coordinating recognition of key festivals and events within the prison.
- Building links with external Pagan communities to support resettlement and spiritual growth.
- Helping shape the future of prison chaplaincy through innovation, compassion, and belief in rehabilitation.
- Contributing to chaplaincy administration and record-keeping, and supporting both the Main Prison and Therapeutic Community areas of HMP Dovegate.

- Recognition as a practising Pagan or endorsement as a Pagan faith adviser, including relevant credentials or qualifications.
- Ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD), including regular engagement with the wider Pagan community or endorsing body.
