Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, DOE Anticipated Schedule: Hours: Monday-Thursday 8:45am to 4:15pm / Friday 7:45am to 3:15pm Training: CPR/First Aid/AED week of May 26, 2026 Job Summary: Assist in the supervision of youth in the Outdoor Adventure Camp. Assists Adventure Camp Director in the planning and implementation of outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking, and swimming. May assist with department community events and athletic events. Works directly with children each day during all scheduled outdoor adventure activities; Responsible for implementing daily activities that coordinate with the outdoor adventure program; Responsible for proper documentation pertaining to each child including sign in and out sheets; Responsible for all disciplinary actions taken at the program site within an assigned age group; Works as a team with other Outdoor Adventure Camp Counselor; Holds secondary responsibility for program management; Refers all parent complaints and concerns to the Recreation Camp Coordinator; Uphold all of the City ordinances, policies and procedures set forth by the City of Meridian; Ensures and promotes safety for children in varying environments of the program. Perform other related duties as assigned or needed. Job Specifications: High school diploma plus two-year experience in a summer camp setting or with youth programs, or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work; Must obtain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification prior to camp start date; CPR, AED & First Aid Certification offered as part of staff training; Must have a general knowledge of several outdoor activities; including but not limited to: hiking, orienteering, kayaking, white water rafting, and ropes courses; Must have good public relations skills, and be a good organizer; Must display an attitude of cooperation and the ability to work well with others and work as a team player; Ability to act in an emergency; Ability to communicate with management, co-workers and general public with respect and in a pleasant, courteous manner; Integrity in the performance of assigned tasks.
