About

We are looking for a Nepali-speaking translator or editor with strong experience in reviewing technical translations related to governance, public administration, or development programmes. The task involves reviewing and improving an existing Nepali translation of an English survey that will be distributed to local governments in Nepal under the Provincial and Local Governance Support Programme (PLGSP). Both the English source and the Nepali version will be provided. The Nepali translation already exists but contains inconsistencies and inaccuracies in technical terminology. The objective is to refine the language so that it is clear, professional, and accurate, especially in how it reflects official terms used in Nepali governance, GESI, and public financial management contexts. Scope of Work: Review the existing Nepali translation against the English original for meaning, tone, and terminology accuracy. Correct and refine mistranslations, awkward phrasing, and inconsistent terminology. Ensure that key technical terms (for example, related to PFM, MTEF, GESI, ICT systems, MEL frameworks, and PLGSP structures) are accurately rendered in Nepali and consistent with usage in government and development documents. Maintain the question numbering, format, and structure of the survey. Provide short comments where a specific term or concept could have multiple Nepali equivalents, explaining your choice. Requirements: Native-level fluency in Nepali and excellent command of English. Proven experience in translation or editing of governance, development, or monitoring and evaluation documents. Strong familiarity with institutional and administrative terminology used in Nepal’s federal and local government systems. Ability to ensure accuracy and readability in formal Nepali suitable for official use. Deliverables: A final, reviewed Nepali version of the survey in Microsoft Word format, ready for official use. Length: Approximately 10–12 pages (around 4,000–5,000 words).
