- Introduction
- ALTEN Ltd is seeking an experienced Project Scheduler to support one of our high-profile Defence and Shipbuilding programmes based in Belfast. This position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex maritime engineering projects. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will develop and maintain robust schedules that underpin programme success, ensuring milestones are achieved within strict technical and regulatory parameters.
- Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring full traceability of progress and dependencies.
- Provide baseline management, monthly updates, and performance analysis to support senior programme stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor junior schedulers, providing guidance on best practices and schedule management processes.
- Coordinate with engineering, production, procurement, and project management teams to ensure accurate and achievable scheduling.
- Prepare and deliver schedule reports, risk assessments, and impact analyses to support programme decision-making.
- Integrate schedule data with ERP systems such as SAP PS to align planning with cost, resource, and procurement activities.
- Support schedule optimisation initiatives to improve visibility, efficiency, and delivery assurance across complex shipbuilding projects.
- Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required
- Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Proven experience as a Project Scheduler within Defence, Shipbuilding, or other complex engineering environments.
- Expert proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling tools.
- Strong understanding of baseline management, critical path analysis, and earned value management (EVM).
- Familiarity with SAP PS or similar project control modules.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement.
