About the Role:
Our client is looking for a skilled and reliable Mobile Plant Mechanical Fitter to join our team. This is a home-based role with the requirement to travel to various locations across Wales and Northwest England. You will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of plant machinery and equipment on-site, ensuring maximum uptime and safety for our clients. The position will require occasional office visits within the Flint area for meetings, paperwork, and coordination.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong mechanical background who enjoys working independently and is happy to travel to different job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mobile Repairs & Maintenance: Carry out on-site diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of various plant machinery including excavators, loaders, earth movers, and other construction equipment.
• Breakdown Assistance: Respond to breakdowns and emergency repair calls, providing quick and efficient solutions to minimize downtime for customers.
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance on plant machinery, including inspections, lubrications, and adjustments, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and repairs are performed in accordance with relevant safety regulations, company policies, and manufacturer specifications.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all service visits, repairs, parts used, and hours worked. Provide detailed reports and feedback to the office team.
• Parts Ordering & Inventory Management: Work with the parts department to order necessary components and manage stock levels to ensure availability for future jobs.
• Customer Interaction: Engage with clients on-site, providing clear explanations of work carried out and offering advice on how to improve the efficiency and lifespan of their plant equipment.
• Occasional Office Visits: Attend the office in Flint for team meetings, training, or to coordinate with the operations and management team on upcoming projects.
• Travel: Regular travel to various sites across Wales and Northwest England, with occasional overnight stays when required.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic or Mobile Fitter (minimum 2-3 years) with experience working on heavy plant machinery (excavators, earth movers, dumpers, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and fault-finding techniques.
• Formal qualifications in Plant Mechanics or a related field (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) would be an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and manage your time efficiently.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a variety of environments.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and mobile technology to log work and report issues.
• A flexible approach to working hours and travel, including overnight stays when necessary.
• A strong focus on safety, ensuring that all tasks are carried out in line with health and safety regulations.
Desirable:
• Experience with specific plant manufacturers or equipment.
• Forklift, crane, or other plant-related certifications.
• Basic welding/fabrication skills or the ability to perform minor repairs.
• First aid certification.
Benefits:
• £36,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
