School Curriculum: US (Pre-K - Grade 12)

Early Education: Teachers create a learning environment where learning is a joyful and rewarding experience, and children learn to become enthusiastic, life-long learners. The thematic, hands-on, and content rich curriculum creates a foundation for children to build upon in the elementary grades. Early Education classes are taught by two teachers: the lead teacher and an additional teaching fellow.

Primary: Primary teaching provides passionate educators the opportunity to teach bright, motivated students and explore lessons and concepts which are usually at least one grade level ahead. Curriculum and lessons focus on content mastery and ensuring student understanding through differentiation provided by a unique co-teaching model.

Secondary: Secondary teachers are subject matter experts, often with multiple advanced degrees. The accelerated curriculum provides experienced teachers the opportunity to go deep into their field of expertise.

Shenzhen International School

The Shenzhen school has grown to more than 1,000 students in PreK - grade 12 and has numerous waitlists. In 2023, the school opened a brand new, purpose-built campus to support continued growth and development. This new campus includes exceptional teaching facilities, an auditorium, black-box theater, cafeteria, library, double decker gym, science labs, music classrooms, and an observatory.

Located in the expat-friendly suburb of Shekou, there are numerous Western restaurants, grocery stores, IMAX movie theaters, and shopping opportunities close to the school. Shenzhen itself is a wonderful planned city filled with plants and shrubbery on the coast in the warmer southern climbs of China. Additionally, the area has easy access by car or ferry to Hong Kong and other Chinese cities, such as Macao, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou.

Role

The network-wide Speech and Debate program fosters intellectual growth, enhanced public speaking abilities, and critical thinking in students. As a Speech & Debate teacher, you plan and implement a competitive program, guiding students in Grades 7 to 12 to reach their maximum potential in public speaking and competitive forensics. You prepare students across three genres-debate, limited preparation, and public speaking-for success in both regional and international tournaments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee tournament registration and logistics, including coordinating with administration about travel arrangements for traditional tournament environments and organizing resources and filming/streaming for online tournaments.
• Deliver subject instruction on a higher level than grade standard, consistently achieving exceptional outcomes for every student.
• Foster meaningful relationships with each student to ensure a personalized and successful learning trajectory
• Guide students in their pursuit of academic achievement, personal responsibility, and intellect
• Pursue continuous professional growth by participating in ongoing professional development, collaborating with colleagues, and staying informed on the latest educational techniques and best practices in your field
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative school community

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in your subject area. (Elementary and Early Childhood Education degrees are highly valued for Pre-K through Grade 5.)
