The Scottish FA is looking for a Media and Communications Officer who will support the Communications team with the delivery of key aspects of the Scottish FA’s strategic plan. You will produce deliberate, proactive communications and media strategies and create compelling content across our digital platforms and print publications. You will also assist with media operations duties around core events like national team and Scottish Cup matches.

You are authentically passionate about the Scottish Game and the impact Football can have on people's lives. Collaborative, creative, and purpose-driven, you are resilient, enthusiastic and proud of the work you produce. Ideally with sound media/marketing or PR experience, you have worked in high pressure environments and thrive under scrutiny.

Key Responsibilities


  • Be an important part of an enthusiastic, hard-working team expected to deliver successful communications campaigns across several strategic priorities for the Scottish FA. Including, but not limited to, Coach Education, Football Development, National Teams, Referee Operations and the Scottish Cup.
  • Event and tournament media officer duties, including assisting with media operations around national team and Scottish Cup matches – along with any other reasonable duties, as requested by the Head of Communications and Commercial Director. This may include supporting colleagues in the department with relevant administerial duties, such as the matchday accreditation process.
  • Work in tandem with colleagues in the Referee Operations department to drive impactful content around their department. In particular, from a communications perspective, leading on their referee and recruitment campaign to help attract and retain the next generation of match officials.
  • Work closely with our Football Development department to bring inspirational stories from the grassroots game to life, and play a pivotal role in our prominent Pitching In campaign.
  • Help generate and manage engaging content across Scottish FA publications and platforms, in line with key communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Main point of contact for media enquiries around relevant issues relating to your primary accounts.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, marketing and content teams to harness output across online and off-line channels
  • Work in partnership with colleagues to manage relations with – and service – our suite of sponsors and partners.
  • Liaise with key internal departments and stakeholders to maximise PR opportunities that demonstrably impact those departments’ objectives.
  • Any other reasonable duties, as requested by the Head of Communications and Commercial Director.
