About
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer sought by a recycling facility in Runcorn. This subsidiary of an international, £multibillion turnover plastics manufacturer is focused on growing the circular economy and they see innovation within PVC recycling as pivotal to their global sustainability strategy.This is a permanent role on weekly rotating shifts, 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, known formally within the business as Mechanical Engineer. However, you will be working days during your probationary period. Shifts and shift allowance will apply after completion of probation.The Role:As Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all plant machinery, via proactive and reactive maintenance. Key responsibilities include:Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on mechanical systems, machinery, and equipmentRespond to breakdowns and conduct reactive repairs to restore equipment to full working order promptlyDiagnose mechanical faults using root cause analysis and fault-finding techniquesDisassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble mechanical components (gears, pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, etc.)Read and interpret mechanical drawings, maintenance manuals, and engineering documentationMaintain accurate maintenance records, including logs of work done, parts used, and downtimeSupport continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and lower maintenance costsEnsure compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and equipment isolation proceduresThe successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineers will demonstrate:Apprenticeship or Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3, BTEC Level 3, C&G Level 3, HNC / HNDProven experience as a Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Maintenanc
