The Role: Securing Standards in Maths Education
A fantastic opportunity is available for a proactive and committed QTS Maths Teacher to join a highly regarded Maths department at a respected Secondary School in Cambridge on a temporary contract or supply basis.
This role is essential for maintaining academic standards during a crucial period. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering effective Maths lessons across the required age and ability range, including preparing students for their GCSE examinations. Your efforts will directly contribute to a robust, challenging, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
...- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons covering the Maths curriculum, ensuring students are challenged and supported in areas like Algebra, Geometry, and Number.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress effectively, using data to identify learning gaps and inform rapid intervention during the contract.
- Establish a stimulating and well-managed classroom environment, promoting high engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate effectively with the department head and colleagues regarding schemes of work, resource sharing, and student handover information.
- Uphold all school policies regarding safeguarding, behaviour management, and professional conduct during your temporary placement.
Requirements
- Full Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential, along with a relevant undergraduate degree in Mathematics or a closely related quantitative field.
- Proven experience teaching Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) is required.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the flexibility to quickly adapt to established department procedures and resources.
- Deep curriculum knowledge and the ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and engagingly.
- A current Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one promptly).
