Job Description Manufacturing Engineer Section Lead CMV Full-Time Derby (Hybrid) An exciting opportunity for a Tooling Design Engineer role with our Valves and CMV Producibility Team has arisen within our Submarines division The Valves and CMV Producibility team owns and develops the methods of manufacture for SSNA, Dreadnought and Current Class products, playing a critical role in ensuring robust, efficient and safe production. As a CMV Producibility Manufacturing Engineer, you will drive continuous improvement, support production and NPI activities, and provide technical leadership to successfully integrate new products while developing capability across the wider team. What you will be doing: Develop and assure robust manufacturing solutions that meet specified requirements, are tolerant to variation, comply with existing standards, and create new standards where necessary. Plan, project manage, and deliver technical work packages and investigations to agreed cost, timescale, quality, and programme milestones, ensuring solutions are complete and correct. Collaborate and communicate effectively with stakeholders, including manufacturing and the supply chain, to integrate cross-functional knowledge, experience, and best practice. Define and deliver verification, justification, and qualification strategies, and lead the resolution and recovery of emergent technical issues. Capture, manage, and reuse manufacturing knowledge, while actively promoting continuous improvement of tools, processes, and methods across the wider team. Support production, build, maintenance, and decommissioning activities, acting in line with company objectives, values, and professional engineering standards. Position Qualifications: To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is/has: Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience. Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification. Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards. Experience as manufacturing engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance /refit activities and dealing with operational issues. Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes. Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
