  • Job Description Manufacturing Engineer - Core Assembly - Submarines Full-Time Derby (Hybrid) As part of the Engineering Producibility Team, a Manufacturing Engineer is expected to influence new designs using New Product Introduction tools to ensure manufacturability and continually improve upon existing product designs, then translating these into world class processes which meet business and customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery. What you will be doing: You will be part of the Core Production Manufacturing Engineering Team working on novel products and processes across NPI and industrialisation projects. The optimal candidate would: Execute Manufacturing Product Introduction activities, including the design of the overall Method of Manufacture and of individual process steps using the Product Quality Planning toolset Fundamental knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA to influence Product definition / final form manufacture Liaise closely with the Design Engineering team ensuring that the design intent is achievable and offering an assembly insight into the final design. Create and validate Production Assembly Instructions which are capable of delivering design intent and meeting customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & Leadtime (SQCD). Be accountable for being the manufacturing technical authority for the product and the management of First offs, new part numbers, significant method resequencing and introduction of new tooling Act as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within a cross-functional team for their owned part(s) Support process proving trials and assist with solving problems on the build stand working with the Operations Team Support shift working during the production phase of the programme. Position Qualifications: To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who is/has: A degree, or equivalent, in an engineering or related technical discipline with previous experience in a manufacturing engineering and/or process engineering background Experience of complex assemblies and measurement techniques of critical classified components. Experience of producing production level documentation packages. Strong interpersonal skills working within a high performing ME team, as well the wider operations team. Strong analytical skills and a proven record of technical problem-solving skills along with knowledge of six sigma / lean techniques A good communicator and able to liaise with all levels of staff Possess excellent organisational and presentation skills and feel comfortable presenting at all levels Please be aware that the priority will be given to employees identified as being at high risk.
