Are you a proactive Controls Engineer driven by change and innovation? We have a high-impact, 18-month contract opportunity for an engineer ready to manage large-scale manufacturing improvement projects valued at $200k to $2M.
You will join a highly-focused team, taking the lead on implementing the latest manufacturing technologies and driving multi-million dollar projects from concept to completion. If you thrive on identifying automation opportunities and using your PLC expertise to solve complex problems, we want to hear from you.
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Contract: 18 months
Pay: £22.50 - £24.50 per hour + 20% Shift Uplift (approx. £48,000 per year)
Hours: Afternoon Shift (Mon-Wed 16:30-02:30, Thu 16:30-02:00)
What You Will Do:
- Drive Automation: Identify, justify, and implement new automation and robotics opportunities on the shop floor. 
- Lead Controls: Use your expertise with Siemens and Mitsubishi PLC/HMI software to diagnose production issues and standardise legacy systems. 
- Manage Major Projects: Take full-scope responsibility for improvement projects-managing budgets, resources, and timelines to hit People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost targets. 
- Develop Solutions: Create and refine manufacturing process solutions using tools like PFMEAs and control plans. 
- Collaborate & Coach: Work cross-functionally to drive DFM, develop equipment specifications, manage suppliers, and mentor others. 
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience In: - Manufacturing Processes: Deep knowledge of manufacturing methods, technologies, and processes. 
- Project Management: Proven ability to plan, organise, and control large-scale projects, managing budgets and resources to achieve targets. 
- Manufacturing Safety: A strong understanding of safety regulations and hazard identification. 
- Problem Management: Using disciplined methodologies to find the root cause and resolve complex manufacturing problems. 
- Judgement & Decision Making: Evaluating complex situations and choosing the best path forward to maximise organisational performance 
- Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of lean philosophy and implementation. 
 
Desirable Skills:
- A degree or equivalent experience. 
- 6 Sigma project leadership experience. 
- Knowledge of assembly, test, or finishing processes. 
- Experience with quality resolution tools (8D, 5why). 
- Working knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter.
