Locum Planning Lawyer – Midlands – £55–60 per hour (Umbrella) – Hybrid Working – 2 to 2.5 Year Assignment Venn Group’s specialist Legal team are currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to join a Local Authority in the Midlands on a long-term interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Lawyer to support the authority through to Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) within a supportive and collaborative legal team. The Role: Position: Locum Planning LawyerDuration: Initial 2-year assignment, with potential to extend to 2.5 yearsRate: £55–£60 per hour umbrellaWorking Pattern: Full time, but part time consideredWorking Arrangement: Hybrid working – ideally office presence weekly (flexible), with some on-site attendance essential for team integration and moraleCommittee Attendance: Monthly planning committee attendance required Key Responsibilities: Managing a general planning law caseload within a Local Authority settingDrafting, negotiating, and advising on Section 106 AgreementsAdvising on Unilateral Undertakings (UU’s)Supporting planning committees and providing legal advice as requiredEnsuring compliance with internal governance procedures and relevant legislationWorking collaboratively with planning officers, committee members, and other stakeholders Ideal Candidate: Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with recent Local Authority planning law experienceStrong experience handling Section 106 agreements and unilateral undertakings</
