About

What skills and experience we're looking for

The Ruth Gorse Academy is seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Literacy. This role is of great importance to our work as an academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students—both one-to-one and in group settings—to develop their reading and literacy skills. This includes working with students who have SEND needs and those with low reading ages.

The role also involves helping learners make effective use of a wide range of resources, delivering targeted interventions, and providing administrative support in the library as required.

Potential applicants must have:

• Grade C/4 or above in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
• A genuine passion for working with young people to improve literacy and support the development of wider learning skills.
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Working as part of The GORSE Academies Trust, The Ruth Gorse Academy ensures that students receive an outstanding education that focuses on aspiration, high expectations and personalisation. Together these non-negotiable values instil in young people a self-belief that enables students to access the highest standard of higher education provision and employment. We believe that poverty and deprivation should, in no way, limit either the quality of a young person’s educational experience or the levels of achievement to which those students are able to rise. In October 2023, the exceptional nature of our work at The Ruth Gorse Academy was again recognised by Ofsted and demonstrated within our GCSE results. We continue to be heavily oversubscribed year on year, as we deliver high quality education for each and every student.
