Linux Engineer - £60,000 - Bristol (On-site, 5 days/week) Join an international leader in technology services as a Unix/Linux Support Engineer, keeping critical systems running smoothly for a major defence programme. You'll be hands-on with Solaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) and Linux (Red Hat) environments, solving complex technical problems and making a real operational impact. What you'll do Monitor, maintain, and support Unix/Linux systems in production & dev environmentsResolve incidents, service requests, and system alerts in line with SLAsPerform patching, updates, and routine system checks to optimise performance & securityTroubleshoot software, hardware, and connectivity issues for end-usersManage user accounts, permissions, file systems, and security best practicesWrite scripts (Bash/Python) to automate processes and improve efficiencyCreate and maintain technical documentationProvide on-call support on a rota What you'll bring Proven Unix/Linux support & admin experienceSolaris (10 & 11, ideally 8 & 9 too) + Linux Red HatScripting skills in Bash or PythonExperience with Ansible, Docker/Mirantis/Podman, and VMware tools (VROPS a bonus)Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skillsAbility to translate technical details for non-technical users Eligibility Sole UK nationals only Must be SC clearance eligible Able to work on-site in Bristol 5 days/week Salary: £60,000 + benefits RSG Plc is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
