Pay rate: £13.69 per hour PAYE
Role length: Anticipated 2 - 3 months
Additional requirement: Enhanced DBS and ability to access independent travel and able to carry out the physical requirements of the role
The role:
As a Lifeline Response Officer, you will work to deliver a Scheme Manager function to the Lifeline clients to promote independence, wellbeing and reduce social isolation through the installation of technology, creating safe environments and delivering tailored move more activities.
You will have strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills, at least two years’ experience supporting vulnerable clients within policy frameworks, the ability to handle challenging and busy environments, maintain confidentiality, and provide empathetic, customer-focused service.
Key responsibilities:
Respond to emergency calls, carry out dynamic risk assessments, and provide immediate care and First Aid (including CPR and defibrillation) until other services, agencies or relatives can take over. Record all actions accurately
Provide support that maintains personal dignity, safety and independence at home, offering empathy and assistance to customers and families during illness, hospitalisation or bereavement
Respond to calls about equipment faults, housing issues, home security, smoke or fire alarm activations (including resetting), lockouts and access for planned works
Complete clerical and administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, call recording, and updating records to ensure smooth service delivery when responding to calls or visiting homes in and out of hours
Provide tenants and visitors with relevant information, including scheme facilities, local services, call and entry systems, and fire evacuation procedures. Collect and receipt payments for items such as fobs, concessionary TV licences, and room or facility rentals
Work with Housing Tenancy Management on tenant matters and refer customers to other agencies for appropriate care or support, including assessments for aids, adaptations or longer-term services
Promote sheltered and extra care housing, conduct viewings and new tenancy sign-ups, encourage the use of Telecare equipment, and demonstrate or install devices using basic tools when required
Carry out scheduled home visits, complete annual reviews, check equipment and property condition, assess changing needs, and liaise with colleagues or agencies to share concerns. Attend relevant meetings and keep accurate records
Safeguard and promote clients’ wellbeing, following all relevant procedures
Advise tenants and relatives on tenancy termination, and liaise with Housing Management to ensure properties are re-let promptly
Monitor contractors such as cleaning, grounds maintenance, and catering, ensuring work meets required standards and contract terms
Encourage tenant involvement, promoting participation in community activities and partnerships with local groups, while supporting independence and respecting individual rights
What the client is looking for:
Accurate literacy and numeracy skills
Minimum of 2 years’ experience of dealing with vulnerable clients who may display behaviours that challenge and maintaining of appropriate boundaries
Experience of working within policies and procedures, use initiative to respond to situations and escalate as required
Experience of working in a busy and challenging environment with the ability to deal with unexpected events and prioritise accordingly
Understanding of data protection principles and confidentiality of sensitive information
IT literate, capable of using Microsoft Office Packages
Strong commitment to customer care with a calm, helpful, empathetic and patient approach to customers
