  • About the Role
  • As a Library Services Assistant, you will work as part of a team responsible for providing a high quality, welcoming, and efficient library & museum service to all customers. You will support library & museum users to find the information and resources they need, assist them to use IT systems, shelve and display books and other materials, and deliver library & museum events such as IT tasters, museum related activities and sessions for under 5s. You will also be required to promote customer choice and enjoyment in reading, and the service’s digital offer including e-books and online reference resources. You will support high standards which ensure relevant museum accreditations are met. You will be required to promote museum collections and exhibitions to customers.
  • About You

To apply for this post, you must

  • Have an interest in reading, learning and culture.
  • Have experience of, and an interest in, digital technology including an ECDL or ITQ level 2 qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deliver events, activities, and taster sessions.
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills to undertake the duties of the role.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Have good time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • We’d also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the interview process.
  • This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
