  • About us
  • Duel is a SaaS company on a mission to make Brand Advocacy the industry standard philosophy for building brilliant retail brands. It was founded by world record-breaking adventurer and former brand ambassador Paul Archer. We exist to show that companies built for advocacy can change the world. In today's hyper connected world in which social media is now twice the size of all other media channels combined and entirely user-generated, the most successful brands are the ones investing in people and in community, not in ads.
  • The Duel Brand Advocacy Solution allows enterprise brands to do just that. We have onboarded over 60 influential brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Charlotte Tilbury, Spanx, Victoria’s Secret, LUSH and Elemis. The Duel team's global presence includes offices in New York City & London. Our team of 60+ is composed of psychologists, brand experts and community builders, combining cutting-edge brand expertise with seasoned SaaS experience.
  • Backed by top European VCs, Duel recently announced a $16 million Series A, which will accelerate growth in the US from our base in New York, and bring our entirely AI-driven product vision to life to equip brands with the solution needed to drive growth through thousands of advocates, customers, creators and brand ambassadors.
  • The Role
  • Own all things legal, successfully supporting, growing, and representing the company and its legal ecosystem through various stages of growth. A key focus will be on streamlining and managing enterprise customer contract review processes, ensuring efficient turnaround times, and enabling the business to close great deals faster and with confidence.
  • As Legal Counsel, you will be an integral part of the finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. You will apply your legal expertise and commercial mindset to proactively guide and support teams across the business. You will also play a key role in fostering self-sufficiency within teams, empowering them to navigate legal considerations confidently and effectively.
  • Your primary role is to support and elevate others across the business to do their best work, while you remain aware and on-top of managing the business risks being created in the process in a way that continues to let them run full steam ahead, at speed. There is no problem that is someone else’s problem - you’re the person who will help us figure out how we can best solve it, in a way that builds the right risk profile for the business.

  • Own and optimize the Enterprise customer contract lifecycle, ensuring efficient review, negotiation, and management of high-value agreements. Engage with the end-to-end customer lifecycle, from initial contract review and negotiation to smooth onboarding processes and ongoing legal support for the Sales and Customer Success team. Your work will directly impact deal velocity and customer satisfaction.
  • Build scalable processes and templates to standardise and accelerate our enterprise customer contract turnaround, reducing legal bottlenecks and empowering the sales and commercial teams without increasing legal and business risk.

  • You have gained at least some of your PQE experience in-house in a startup/scaleup environment, either through a secondment, previous role, or previous non-legal professional role.
