  • Are you an industry-active fashion professional with a passion for shaping the next generation of designers? Do you combine strong creative direction with technical depth in drape, creative cutting and garment realisation?
  • We are seeking a dynamic Fashion Lecturer to join our BA (Hons) Fashion programme and play a key role in curriculum development, studio teaching and student progression across Levels 4–6.
  • About the Role

This is an opportunity to influence how emerging designers think, experiment and realise their ideas. You will deliver teaching across

  • Design process and concept development.
  • Drape and creative cutting methods.
  • Toile development and garment realisation.
  • Visual communication and portfolio presentation.
  • Working collaboratively with the Course Director, Subject Leads, Module Tutors and Fashion Technicians, you will help foster a holistic, student-centred learning experience grounded in contemporary practice and industry relevance.
  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Planning and delivering engaging studio-based and theoretical sessions.
  • Leading technical demonstrations aligned to project briefs.
  • Supporting curriculum development and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students.
  • Overseeing studio practice and ensuring safe, professional working standards.
  • Embedding current industry practices and research into teaching.
  • Contributing to live projects, exhibitions, fashion shows and open days.
  • Engaging in research, scholarly activity and/or professional practice.
  • Supporting mid-term and end-of-year shows.
  • You will play an active role in maintaining high academic standards while encouraging experimentation, innovation and critical thinking.
  • What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • BA in Fashion Design and postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Strong expertise in design development, draping, creative cutting and garment construction.
  • Experience teaching in Higher Education or equivalent professional training context.
  • Knowledge of visual communication and portfolio development.
  • Ability to deliver constructive, rigorous and inspiring feedback.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to contribute to curriculum planning.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, safeguarding and health & safety.

Desirable

  • PhD or higher-level research degree.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCert or equivalent – support provided if required).
  • Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
  • Clo3D knowledge.
  • Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Understanding of ethical AI integration within the design process.
