About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial part in providing tailored support to students with a wide range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with the SEN Coordinator and class teachers, primarily assisting students in mainstream classes, small groups, or in one-to-one sessions, helping them access the curriculum and develop independence.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support to individual students or small groups, adapting resources and explanations to meet specific learning needs.
- Assist students with emotional, behavioural, and social development, promoting positive relationships and self-esteem.
- Help prepare and modify learning materials to suit students' Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or support plans.
- Liaise regularly with the class teacher to ensure seamless integration of support within lesson planning and delivery.
- Support students during non-lesson times (e.g., break, lunch) to encourage positive social interaction and safety.
- Contribute to the recording and monitoring of student progress, feeding back observations to the SEN team.
- Assist with personal care needs for specific students, if required (full training provided).
What We're Looking For
We need a proactive and empathetic individual who meets the following criteria:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably within an educational or care setting.
- A genuine understanding of and empathy for the challenges faced by students with SEND.
- Excellent patience, resilience, and a positive outlook to motivate students through difficult tasks.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
- Good general education (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths is desirable).
- The ability to promote independence rather than dependence in students.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding procedures.
