About Newham College:Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.With over 600 staff, four main campuses, and an annual turnover of £60 million, Newham College is one of the borough’s largest employers and plays a key role in driving local economic and community development.The Role;We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our Supported and Inclusive Learning team. This is a rewarding role where you will make a genuine difference every day by supporting learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities, helping them to access education, build independence, and thrive in our college community.This role is: Term Time only, Part-time (3 days per week), Fixed Term until 31st July 2025Key responsibilities;Work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality, tailored support to learners.Support students in lessons, individually or in small groups, and provide feedback on progress.Assist with personal care, behaviour management, and mobility where required.Encourage social, emotional, and academic development both in and out of the classroom.Supervise learners during break times, lunchtimes, and on educational visits.Help create inclusive learning environments, including adapting resources and using assistive technology.Contribute to planning, safeguarding, and record-keeping in line with College policies.Our Ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and experience.Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent).IT skills sufficient to support learning.Experience of supporting learners with SEND.Emotional resilience and experience of managing behaviours that challenge.A flexible, caring, and proactive approach.Understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults (training provided).Willingness and ability to support with personal care tasks.Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable AdultsIn line with Keeping Children Safe in Education All employment offers are subject employment checks.
