Job Title: Lead Data and Intelligence Analyst Location: London/Cambridge - Hybrid Employment Type: Full-Time The job We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Lead Data and Intelligence Analyst, ensuring that data solutions directly support commercial strategy and performance. The successful candidate will be an expert in Power BI and proficient in SQL, with practical experience in building data engineering pipelines within the Microsoft ecosystem. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement, along with the ability to provide leadership and mentorship to junior analysts. Key Responsibilities: Commercial Data Intelligence – Deliver and advance the commercial data strategy to ensure a “single version of the truth” for reporting and decision-making. Contribute to data warehouse and data lake initiatives to enable advanced analytics. Data Engineering Pipelines – Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft-based tools (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric pipelines), ensuring data quality, integrity, and timeliness. Drive adoption of standardized data infrastructure by replacing non-standard data sources (Excel, manual files, SharePoint) with governed pipelines and curated datasets. Power BI Development – Design, development, and optimisation of advanced dashboards, reports, and models within Power BI, ensuring usability and scalability across the business. Data Analysis – Perform deep-dive and ad-hoc analyses, generating actionable insights to address commercial challenges and opportunities. Stakeholder Engagement – Collaborate with senior commercial, sales, and operations leaders to understand requirements, design analytical solutions, and translate complex datasets into actionable insights. SQL & Data Modelling – Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries to support analytics and reporting requirements. Leadership & Mentorship – Provide technical leadership to junior analysts, fostering best practices in BI, data engineering, and stakeholder management. Continuous Improvement – Stay current with Microsoft BI & Fabric updates, recommending and implementing improvements to data workflows and reporting. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience in analytics, BI, or data engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a senior or lead role. Expertise in Power BI – advanced DAX, data modelling, performance optimization, and deployment. Strong SQL proficiency with proven experience in query optimization. Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, or Fabric pipelines. Strong communication and presentation skills, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and deliver measurable business impact. Strong attention to detail with a track record of delivering high-quality, accurate, and scalable BI solutions. Competencies: Technical Leadership – Ability to set standards, mentor others, and act as a SME in BI and data engineering. Strategic Thinking – Capable of aligning technical solutions with commercial objectives. Collaboration – Adept at working cross-functionally and influencing decision-making in a matrixed organization. Problem Solving – Able to diagnose data issues, propose solutions, and implement improvements quickly. Commercial Acumen – Understands the dynamics of sales and commercial operations, ensuring analytics directly support performance improvement.
