  • The Lead Data Analyst is responsible for driving the analytics strategy and leading a team of analysts to deliver timely, trusted, and actionable insights that inform operational and clinical decision-making.
  • You will act as the bridge between business leadership, data engineering, and BI teams, ensuring that reporting solutions and advanced analytics align with organisational priorities and deliver measurable impact. This role requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and stakeholder-management skills to shape best-practice analytics across the organisation.
  • This is a home-based role (applicants must reside in the UK), though occasional travel may be required for face-to-face meetings at various locations within the UK.

As our Lead Data Analyst, you will

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of analysts—setting objectives, providing regular feedback, and nurturing career development.
  • Translate organisational strategy into a roadmap of analytics initiatives, prioritising high-value projects.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making across departments; communicate insights in a way that resonates with clinical, operational, and executive leaders.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics Tech Lead to define analytics standards, governance policies, and KPIs that support organisational goals.
  • Delivery & Oversight
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade data solutions—including Power BI dashboards, automated reporting, and ETL/ELT workflows.
  • Ensure that data models are well-designed, governed, and aligned with best practice to serve both self-service BI and advanced analytics.
  • Supervise data-quality and validation processes, escalating risks and ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., NHS IG, GDPR).
  • Act as escalation point for complex SQL, DAX, and Python-based analyses—supporting advanced use-cases such as predictive modelling, forecasting, and automation.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering to influence data-platform architecture and ensure pipelines meet analytics and reporting needs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to understand and prioritise reporting and analytics requirements; manage expectations throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Present strategic insights and recommendations to executive and clinical leadership, using compelling data-storytelling techniques.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships with IT, Clinical Operations, Finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Introduce and enforce best practices in analytics development (e.g., version control, peer review, documentation, change-management).
  • Keep the team informed of emerging BI tools, Python libraries, and healthcare analytics trends.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, re-use of data assets, and automation to increase delivery speed and consistency.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience in an analytics leadership or senior analyst role within a data-driven organisation.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising a team of analysts and managing end-to-end delivery of analytics projects.
  • Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, Power Query, data-model optimisation) with a track record of building enterprise-scale dashboards.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (AWS/Azure), Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.
  • Expert-level SQL for querying and optimising large, relational data sources.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, workflow automation, and predictive modelling.
  • Experience designing and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in collaboration with data engineers.
  • Strong knowledge of data-governance principles, metadata management, and data-quality frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management, facilitation, and presentation skills—able to communicate technical insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Healthcare / NHS / telemedicine data experience is highly desirable.
