Lloyd’s are seeking to recruit a Lead Actuary (Capital Oversight). You will play a pivotal leadership role within the Capital Oversight team, driving strategic initiatives and delivery of the market oversight plan for capital in relation to market-wide risks, as well as ensuring smooth delivery of key processes, fostering team culture, and driving strategic initiatives. This position combines people management, project oversight, technical knowledge and cross-functional collaboration to support Lloyd’s capital oversight framework. Principal Accountabilities Capital Reviews & Technical Oversight Lead the delivery of the market oversight plan for capital with regards to market-wide risks and other high-profile projects requiring technical and strategic input. Lead capital oversight for new entrants to the Lloyd’s market. Peer review team members' reviews of syndicates’ capital, including annual capital reviews, major model changes, and deep dive reviews. Operational Oversight & Project Management Support the Head of Capital Oversight in: Managing the relationship with the PRA, in particular driving regular oversight meetings. Managing the relationship with the market, in particular preparing and delivering market communications and briefings. Maintaining and evolving the risk and oversight framework. Overseeing project delivery within the team, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationships Act as a point of contact for more complex syndicates, ensuring effective communication and coordination. Build and lead strong relationships with Senior Managers in other internal teams (e.g., Risk, Exposure Management, Performance Management) to ensure consistent and collaborative approaches. Represent the team in cross-functional forums. Prepare conclusions and recommendations for various Executive committees. Skills Knowledge and Experience Extensive experience in non-life insurance, with a focus on capital modelling and exposure to related areas such as reserving. Proven track record of working within the Lloyd’s or London Market environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex actuarial projects to completion. Experience in presenting technical findings and strategic recommendations to senior management and external stakeholders, including regulators. Experience in managing and developing junior team members, fostering technical growth. Understanding of Solvency UK, Lloyd’s Capital Guidance, and broader regulatory capital requirements. Awareness of the Lloyd’s market structure, syndicate operations, and the strategic role of capital oversight in market stability. Familiarity with actuarial modelling platforms (e.g., Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche) and data analysis tools used in capital modelling. Understanding internal governance processes, risk management frameworks, and the role of actuarial input in regulatory decision-making. Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Drive process improvements, and manage ambiguity effectively. Fully qualified Actuary with FIA status (or equivalent) from the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA).
