Description: We are seeking an experienced interior designer to help us renovate and modernise our Victorian home while keeping its historic character intact. We moved in around 4 months ago, and the property was last updated in the 1970s. Our vision is a conservatively modern style that feels fresh and functional, yet still showcases the elegance of the Victorian period. We already have: • Highly detailed floor plans and elevations of the entire house • A well-populated Pinterest board that captures our style preferences, colour inspirations, and design ideas • Previous proposals from a local architect (we want to adjust and refine some of these) Your role will be to: 1. Review and refine our existing architectural proposals to improve layouts and functionality where needed 2. Create updated floor plans for each space, reflecting any agreed changes 3. Develop cohesive design schemes for the whole house, including: • Paint colours and finishes • Flooring types and layouts • Lighting concepts • Furniture selection and placement • Soft furnishings and decor accents 4. Blend modern design with period features to ensure the Victorian character remains prominent 5. Produce technical drawings and specifications that contractors can follow 6. Create mood boards and 3D visuals (if possible) to help us clearly visualise the design before execution 7. Advise on sourcing furniture, materials, and fittings that align with our design and budget Requirements: • Demonstrated experience with Victorian or other period homes (portfolio required) • Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and contractor-ready documentation • Experience working on projects of similar scale and style • A strong eye for blending modern comfort with heritage details • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate ideas clearly • Experience sourcing finishes, materials, and furnishings • (Preferred) Experience with UK suppliers, finishes, and period restoration practices Deliverables: • Updated floor plan layouts • Full design scheme (colours, flooring, furniture, lighting) • Mood boards and/or 3D renders • Technical drawings and specifications • Sourcing list with supplier details (where possible) To apply, please include: • Examples of previous Victorian or heritage home projects • Your process for developing a design remotely • Any experience with UK-based projects or suppliers • Estimated timeline and availability We’re looking for someone who appreciates period details as much as modern design and can help us create a home that’s both elegant and functional.
