To have shared responsibility with other identified persons for the implementation of the National Service Framework [NSF] for Arrhythmias and Sudden Cardiac Death. To work alongside the Lead Consultant Cardiologist in the Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions [ICC] triaging referrals appropriately to the ICC service. Work with the ICC team to develop local policies and guidelines relevant to the speciality, ensuring the continuous delivery of a high-quality service for patients with inherited cardiac conditions and survivors of sudden cardiac death arrhythmias/blackouts, to ensure that these are adhered to at all times To construct / draw a family pedigree in order to identify the transmission of inherited cardiac disease including cardiac and genetic history. To develop and follow protocols for specific cardiac investigations (such as drug provocation testing), deliver and organise these, ensuring a smooth and seamless patient journey from time of referral to treatment/reassurance To liaise with the DGHs, GPs, coroners office and genetic services to collate and report back relevant clinical information and ensure seamless service and care of families requiring investigating. To co-ordinate the patients care acting as a point of contact for patients, their families and the MDT. To provide on-going support, education and advice for patients and their relatives relating to hereditary cardiac conditions causing sudden cardiac death. To assist a drug provocation service. Have a thorough understanding of ECG and arrhythmic conditions, to understand and be able to explain findings from investigations such as Holter monitoring and MRI scans. Be responsible for giving advice and education about a diagnosis and treatment backed with appropriate written and IT information. It is a requirement for all staff to comply with all infection control policies and procedures as set out in the Trust Infection Control manual.
