Pay rate: £23.70 per hour PAYE
Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months
Working Arrangement: Ability to travel as required to work from two locations across the city
An Enhanced DBS is essential for this role

In order to apply for this role you will have previous experience as a Housing officer working in tenancy management, supporting vulnerable people. You will also have previous experience of using Orchard (MRI Enterprise) along with a ability to prepare and present documentation for court. An in date Enhanced DBS is essential.

The role:

On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Housing Officer with previous experience of using Orchard (MRI Enterprise).

This role will not have line management responsibilities but they will be required to support/offer advice and guidance to Assistant Housing Officers.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver tenancy services across assigned neighbourhoods in line with law and policy.
Manage complex tenancy issues, complaints, disputes, and anti-social behaviour; take legal action when needed.
Conduct tenancy audits and promote tenancy sustainability and community wellbeing.
Respond to emergencies, support void management, and provide service cover as required.
Promote welfare benefit access, report suspected fraud, and manage service capacity.
Support Residents’ Groups, attend meetings, and lead environmental improvement projects.
Build partnerships with statutory/non-statutory services, coordinate multi-agency work, and address safeguarding concerns.
Manage and develop Assistant Housing Officers through supervision, appraisals, and training.
Lead teams in line with council values, fostering collaboration and strong communication.
Advise customers, promote council services, support service reviews, and report neighbourhood issues.



What the client is looking for:

Experience of working in Tenancy Management or in similar enforcement or community development roles and achieving measurable results and continuous improvement
Previous experience of using Orchard (MRI Enterprise)
Demonstrable awareness of housing management best practice
Experience in Public Sector Housing and an ability to take personal responsibility for delivering an excellent service
Experience of preparing and presenting documentation for court
Experience of project management, demonstrating an understanding of how to plan and deliver projects
Experience of working in Tenancy Management or in similar enforcement or community development roles
Highly experienced in the use of spreadsheets, PowerPoint and word
