Reporting to: Reception/Duty Manager
Overview
UNICUS is a wholly owned subsidiary of The University of Sheffield, operating a number of distinct commercial services, including cafes, hotels, conference and hospitality venues within the University Campus. We are now looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team.
A Front Desk Receptionist is required for these two unique hotels, the 38 bedroom Halifax Hall and 79 bedroom Jonas Hotel, in the leafy suburb of Fulwood, Sheffield.
Halifax Hall is a steel baron’s mansion that has been lovingly transformed in to a boutique hotel which offers plush accommodation, conference, wedding, event and private dining space. Jonas Hotel is a vibrant and modern hotel which offers flexible accommodation and quirky social space for students, business and
leisure guests and visiting academics, with stays from one night and up to 6 months.
Reporting directly to the Guest Services Manager, the Front Desk Receptionist will be responsible for providing our guests with a quality, friendly and efficient service at all times. Operations include guest check in/out, mail/message service, wake up calls, taking hotel reservations and concierge services in a gracious and professional manner. The position demands accuracy and guest confidentiality and also includes daily accounting procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Perform front desk duties as required including pre-arrival co-ordination of all guests including reservations and queries prior to staying with us
- Greeting guests, answering the telephone, performing guest transactions and operating the front office computer systems
- Ability to explain hotel products, services and other information about the hotel including potential up-sells as required
- Greet guests warmly and perform registration procedures
- Provide assistance to all front desk team members when dealing with escalation situations. Assist guests with issues and complaints with empathy and focus on guest satisfaction.
- Work closely with staff to ensure high levels of customer service at all times
- Resolve and communicate all customer service issues to relevant hotel departmental heads and hotel leadership team
- Ensure the front desk and reception area remain clean and presentable to guests at all times
- Support the management team with administrative tasks
- Facilitate guest departures providing accurate statements and ensuring guest satisfaction and collecting all payments due
- Attend meetings and training as requested
- Ensure all billing is prepared and correct and that ledgers are posted correctly
- Assist with food and beverage duties to help the team on busy shifts
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- A ‘can do’ approach to your work
- Committed to delivering a high quality guest experience, to an agreed company standard, and confident in dealing with a wide variety of clientele and situations
- Great communication skills
- Computer MS word, Excel literate
Desirable
- Previous hotel reception experience
- Hotel system experience
