Job Title: HGV Mechanic (Engineering and Technical)

Salary: £20 per hour PAYE with accrued holiday and pension contribution

Hours: 45 hours per week

Role length: 2 months opening assignment

Job type: On-site
Location: Solihull



Contract Type: Temporary



The role: You will work as part of a maintenance team responsible for servicing, repairing and inspecting a fleet of HGVs and trailers. This includes carrying out preventative maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a range of heavy vehicles and associated equipment.



Key Responsibilities:

Conduct trailer inspections and repairs in line with company requirement
Perform PPM, diagnostics and fault-finding on HGV/LGV units and trailers
Carry out Moffett inspections and repairs
Undertake hydraulic and electrical work on a variety of equipment
Work on bespoke “blower” trailers, including associated blowing equipment
Conduct brake testing and work on braking systems
Perform pre-LOLER inspections where required
Carry out basic welding and fabrication tasks
Attend off-site breakdowns as needed
Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times



What the client is looking for:

NVQ Level 3 in HGV Motor Mechanics (essential)
Good awareness of safe working practices
Strong teamworking and communication skills
Flexible and reliable, with a positive “can-do” attitude



Desirable:

IRTEC qualification
HGV driving licence
Auto-electrical or hydraulic experience
Prior work on plant or specialist trailer systems



Hours and Benefits:

Monday to Friday, 7.30 am – 5.00 pm (45 hours per week)
Alternate Saturdays (normally 7.00 am – 12.00 pm)
Occasional Sunday or Bank Holiday work may be available
