You would be based in our Birmingham office but also have the opportunity to work from home and from our other offices in the Midlands, Southwest and Wales. Our clients are varied so a typical working week would include managing your diary to be on client sites, in the office, or working from home. We are looking for a collaborative and motivated CDM Consultant to deliver a quality service for our Clients. Under CDM 2015 our CDM services focus on assisting designers with the Principal Designer role (both in-house and with our clients) and assisting clients to comply with their duties. You may be a chartered civil engineer or construction professional looking to specialise in H&S, or a H&S specialist with a good working knowledge of the construction industry. We’re not all the same, and that’s our greatest strength. Your role Advising and assisting clients in carrying out their duties under CDM 2015. Working with designers to carry out Health and Safety design reviews and advising them accordingly in line with legislation and best practice. Undertaking a wide range of CDM Consultant duties in line with agreed service deliveries. Undertaking H&S audits and Inspections. Reviewing RA/MS, carrying out accident investigation, H&S Policy and procedure writing and other H&S services. Learning and applying quality assurance principles. Keeping up to date and abreast of relevant legislative and best practice changes. Developing strong relationships with our existing clients. Developing relationships and opportunities with new clients. To be able to work autonomously and Professional chartership with IOSH or related profession (or working towards this). Good knowledge of CDM Regulations essential. Have construction industry experience and sound knowledge of construction design; experience in the following would be an advantage building control requirements, construction techniques and materials, fire safety in construction, temporary works, asbestos, demolition, scaffolding, working at height and lifting. About you Experience in undertaking workplace audits and inspections of construction sites (desirable). Good communication skills and ability to contribute effectively to team meetings. A proactive attitude and a willingness to seek guidance on occasions from senior colleagues. NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or willing to undertake this). Ability to write professional reports to a good standard of English with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software packages. Driving licence holder willing to travel across the UK. Advising on best practice CDM design risk management. Carrying out CDM design reviews and advising designers in line with legislation and best practice. Advising and assisting clients in carrying out their duties under CDM 2015. Supporting colleagues with health and safety expertise and providing general health and safety consultancy services to clients. Delivering H&S and CDM training. Learning and applying quality assurance principles. Keeping up to date and abreast of relevant legislative and best practice changes. A background in construction and/or design and experience of H&S training. Experience of ISO 45001 and other integrated management systems.
