Reporting into our Technology & Transformation Director, you will be responsible for ensuring that the technology that we have in the business is best-in-class as well as operational, scalable and secure. Your team will be the driving force behind our architectural strategies that not only support our projects and ambitions but keep the business secure and cost effective. You will raise awareness of technology innovation, particularly AI, and help to exploit this within the business. You will also provide critical oversight of our engineering strategies and the quality of services delivered by our technology partners.

  • The Role

Your daily to-dos might look like this

You will be accountable for the selection, technical delivery and stability of Trinny London technology estate. Your responsibilities will include three areas of equal importance, across which you will prioritise on an as needs basis

  • Technology solutions selection and delivery
  • Provide leadership and governance across technology suppliers and their delivery, ensuring adherence to technology standards and engineering SLAs
  • Support the definition and delivery of technology strategy in partnership with the Technology & Transformation Director
  • Act as Chief Engineer: Work in collaboration with our outsource partner on a day to day basis to find the best technology solutions to meet business needs and resolve problems
  • Lead on solution selection with the support of dedicated architecture resource when needed
  • Ensure a cost effective, secure and flexible architecture is built and maintained
  • Procurement support for technical aspects of vendor selection, ensuring alignment with technical strategy, security requirements, internal systems and processes
  • AI Exploitation
  • Develop AI strategy and roadmap for the business
  • Identify, evaluate and support adoption of AI process optimisations to deliver value across all business departments
  • Provide hands on support to users to enable them to make the most of Ai tools
  • Create an AI-first culture and community that supports and empowers teams to continuously improve their processes and business outcomes through the use of AI
  • Drive staff adoption and competency in AI through training, best practices and tooling
  • Identify and maximise use of AI capabilities within existing technology partners to achieve cost savings and improved performance.
  • Work with our Engineering and App Support teams to harness Ai to make our development better and quicker.
  • Service Delivery & Operations
  • Own service delivery standards across technology function, managing the Service Delivery Manager
  • Drive continuous improvements in technology operations and end-user experience
  • Drive down the TCO of our technology estate
  • Ensure robust security posture, processes and staff training
  • Leadership of EUC and App Support
  • Ensure supplier performance across third party application support and monitoring
  • Drive towards better monitoring and proactive avoidance of issues

These skills will help you go far in this role

  • A strong Engineering background with evidence of close collaboration with Architecture and Operations teams
  • Proven experience in a retail environment, including e-commerce, digital platforms and in-store technology. (All essential)
  • A track record of successfully driving innovation and adoption of new technology
  • Deep understanding of AI and its growing application in business
  • A passion for technology innovation, in particular AI
  • Significant experience of working with and managing outsourced technology providers
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, SaaS solutions, system integration, microservices and modern data platforms
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding and experience of best practice service desk and application support management
  • A service-oriented culture and empathy with the needs of business users of technology
  • Experience in operational technology management and aptitude for responding reactively to operational needs
  • Confidence in discussing technical approaches with developers, while also being able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on involvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic and business-focused mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing organisation
  • Proactive and energetic with a can-do, solution-focused attitude
