As Head of School, you will be a key member of the Faculty Leadership Group and lead the school’s leadership team. This pivotal role shapes and executes the overall faculty strategy at the school level, ensuring alignment with university policies and external standards. You will set, communicate, and achieve academic and operational objectives, including curriculum development, research and education strategies, resource allocation, talent management, and external engagement. You will also manage the school’s budget to ensure financial sustainability, while fostering a positive workplace culture and role modelling the University’s values. Your leadership will inspire academic excellence, enhance the student experience, maintain accreditation standards, and further strengthen the school’s reputation nationally and internationally. About the School of Business Analytics and Marketing (BAM) Ranked #4 in Australia and #39 globally for marketing and analytics (QS 2025), the School of Business Analytics and Marketing sits at the intersection of data science, consumer insight, and strategic decision-making. The school is composed of two disciplines: the Discipline of Business Analytics and the Discipline of Marketing. It addresses complex business and societal challenges through research and contemporary teaching that integrates rigorous analytical capability with a deep understanding of markets, consumers, and organisational behaviour. The school’s academic expertise spans business analytics, marketing science, consumer behaviour, applied econometrics, optimisation and decision sciences, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and digital analytics. BAM has internationally recognised strengths in business statistics and econometrics, optimisation and operations research, risk modelling, forecasting, network and high-dimensional data analysis, and the statistical and computational foundations of modern machine learning and AI. These capabilities drive advanced research addressing financial and economic risk, productivity and efficiency analysis, supply chains and logistics, and large-scale, data-driven decision-making across sectors. Business Analytics and Marketing academics publish impactful research in leading international journals, contributing significantly to the Business School’s global reputation. The school distinguishes itself through the integration of rigorous theory with scalable, applied methods—combining quantitative and psychology-informed approaches to consumer behaviour, advanced econometric and optimisation models, and data-driven insights that inform business strategy, public policy, and organisational performance. Interdisciplinary partnerships, particularly with the School of Psychology and across quantitative fields, support influential work at the intersection of behavioural science, analytics, and policy-relevant research. Business Analytics and Marketing is valuably connected to practice through active collaboration with industry, government, and public-sector partners, particularly in domains requiring advanced analytics, predictive modelling, machine learning, and AI-enabled decision support. About you (skills, capabilities and experience) We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader with: A wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry, and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders. In-depth knowledge of strategic issues in the higher education sector. Proven skills and experience in financial and operational management. A strong understanding of academic leadership, from curriculum design to research excellence and student success. Demonstrated experience in people leadership and management within the higher education or knowledge sector. Your ability to inspire, influence, and lead will be critical in shaping the future of the school and contributing to the University’s reputation for excellence. Term and remuneration The successful candidate will be offered up to a 5 year fixed term position on a full-time basis, with a professorial appointment in an appropriate discipline in the school and will retain that position at the conclusion of their headship. The appointment is subject to completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.
