Head of Accounting and Operations This is a great job for someone who has a sound understanding of financial processes, systems, practices, and applications with the proven ability to identify and deliver process improvements and ensure the maintenance of a robust control environment. A bit about the job: We are seeking a dynamic leader to head our Accounting and Reporting Operations team at Aviva Investors. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development of policies, procedures, and controls, manage financial audits, and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices—all aligned with our strategic objectives. You will contribute to and influence the evolution of accounting and reporting strategies, analyse market trends, and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency. With responsibility for delivering accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, modelling, and forecasting, you will support critical business decisions and lead key elements of the finance change agenda. Your remit will include driving continuous improvement across finance operations, coordinating with wider teams, and providing expert insights to senior management on complex financial matters. You will represent the organisation externally, liaise with regulators and auditors, and maintain a strong presence within the finance community. Additionally, you will lead budgeting and performance management, foster team engagement, promote a robust risk culture, and spearhead projects beyond your immediate scope. Staying abreast of regulatory changes and industry developments, you will ensure our practices remain integrated within the broader risk and finance framework. This role also includes leadership of the costs and revenue teams, offering strategic financial guidance and safeguarding the integrity of our financial data. Skills and experience we’re looking for: Ability to present financial information to senior stakeholders clearly, demonstrating a deep understanding of accounting requirements, including consideration of forward looking judgements and estimates. Excellent networking and communication skills, enabling the role holder to engage across the business, analyse information, and to establish & maintain effective relationships. Understanding of investment management sector, with up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory framework and applicable IFRS. Experience of either audit delivery or audit oversight with knowledge of audit testing processes and requirements. Qualified accountant and degree level qualification, with relevant post-qualification experience.
