The Mill is looking for a Head Barista to take us to the next level.

This exciting opportunity will suit an enthusiastic and experienced barista who has the personality, in-depth knowledge and passion to succeed in the coffee business.

You will have worked for some of the best coffee shops in the area, with experience in speciality coffee - you might have even had a spell in a roastery learning everything there is to know about coffee.

To be successful in this position, and to fit in at The Mill, you will need to be ambitious, self-motivated, hard working, have great interpersonal skills.

This is a real opportunity to make the role your own - and this role has the has the scope to evolve into a managerial position.

You will take the lead on the coffee machine during the day and set the standard for how our coffee and drinks should be presented. This is not an entry level role into coffee so please only apply if you are a seasoned barista who can pour perfect latte art in every cup.

Our Head Barista will be responsible for delivering certain aspects of coffee training to other less experienced staff, as well ensuring all equipment cleaning and maintenance is carried out.

You will ensure all training requirements are addressed ,whether for a new-starter or developing our current team and assisting with their progression.

Amazing latte art is a must and we are eager to employ someone who always has ideas and tips on how to improve all aspects of the business.

The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the food service industry, possess excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Full-time, permanent - Salary negotiable (depending on level of experience)

Job Duties:

• Greet customers as they enter with a friendly smile
• Prepare coffee and espresso beverages, with incredible latte art as standard (we can sharpen your skills if you need a refresher course)
• Dial in the coffee machine each morning
• Set up for the morning including packing away orders and setting up outside seating
• Clean and maintain the coffee equipment where necessary
• Serve customers their order following health, safety, and sanitation standards
• Help with café clean-up at the end of shift
• Maintain cleanliness of coffee bar area and floor
• Knowledge of menu items and preparation methods
• Work with a team to ensure that customers have a great experience
• Work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
• Work as a team to help one another succeed in your roles
• Help with social media content creation
• Have an expansive knowledge of the regional coffee scene
• Assist with opening up and closing for the day
• Inform management when coffee bar stock needs ordered
• Place orders when needed
