  • Welcome to Curve. On a mission to help you live inspired.
  • This interim role has been created to support Curve’s financial close and audit preparation for the year ending 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all reconciliations and balance sheet substantiations are fully completed by early February 2026, in line with the audit requirements for both the Curve European entity and the wider UK and Group audits.
  • The role will play a key part in ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are complete, accurate, and fully supported with audit-ready documentation for the year-end financial statements. It requires strong experience in year-end audit preparation within complex or regulated environments, working to tight deadlines. Experience within fintech or other high-volume, transaction-driven businesses is highly desirable.
  • The focus of this role is not on routine reconciliations, but on validating the integrity of the general ledger and identifying and resolving control or data gaps that may impact audit outcomes.
  • In addition to ensuring that the Curve Group balance sheet is fully substantiated, the successful candidate will work directly with external auditors to ensure they have a clear understanding of key reconciliations and supporting evidence, enabling a smooth and successful audit completion.
  • This is a hands-on role requiring strong ownership of deliverables, attention to detail, and collaboration across Finance, Treasury, Operations, and other functions to ensure Curve is fully audit-ready for 2025.

Key Accountabilities

  • Audit Preparation and Balance Sheet Substantiation
  • Prepare audit-ready balance sheet reconciliations across key areas such as accruals, prepayments, intercompany, deferred revenue, fixed assets, customer funds, interchange, settlement, and chargebacks.
  • Ensure all balances are accurate, complete, and fully supported by underlying records, with clear audit trails and documentation.
  • Support the preparation of balance sheet substantiation packs for the 2025 year-end close, ensuring that reconciliations are ready for review by the Group Financial Controller and external auditors.
  • Financial Control and Governance
  • Validate the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring postings reflect underlying business transactions accurately.
  • Identify and address control gaps or inconsistencies within the reconciliation process and assist in strengthening Curve’s financial control environment.
  • Support the rollout of standardised reconciliation templates and review processes to ensure consistency across entities and accounts.
  • Process Improvement and Efficiency
  • Review existing reconciliation and substantiation processes and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for automation or simplification of manual tasks, particularly around data extraction and reconciliation preparation.
  • Assist in implementing best practice reporting and documentation standards to support audit readiness and future scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with teams across Treasury, FP&A, Product, and Operations to ensure alignment between transactional data and financial reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues and ensure key balances are properly supported.
  • External Audit Support
  • Help coordinate and respond to audit queries efficiently to support a smooth and successful audit completion for the 2025 financial year.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in financial control, accounting, or audit preparation, with direct responsibility for balance sheet substantiation and reconciliation.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and audit processes, ideally gained within fintech, payments, or high-growth technology environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing balance sheet files, audit support packs, and working directly with external auditors.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including data manipulation, complex formulas, and pivot tables.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite (preferred) or other cloud-based ERP systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a structured, risk-aware and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
  • This is a 6-month contract, outside IR35, with an immediate start.
