CassonX have abroad remit on what we are looking to identify, and that is because it is all about the talent and personality of the person at the start of their career. Whist degree education and someone who is mathematically minded is needed to fit in, and there is obvious preference to those who offer some kind of cash management / funding, optimisation, collateral or even Treasury Operations experience in a buy- or sell-side company, the client is willing to consider those coming from any Operations or Middle Office background, if you are at the start of your career boasting at least 6 months work experience. They are looking for someone who is a special talent, with an appreciation to learn programming or machine learning in a role, but preference will be given to those at the start of their careers coming from a varied Operations role in a Hedge Fund or Prime Brokerage Middle Office role. What is most important is being able to showcase a mentality that would be successful in aptitude assessments and mental arithmetic. This might be demonstrable in education as part of a degree where you have covered statistics or even quant focussed modules
